Data Handling Purposes and Processes

Newsletter. If you wish to sign up for our newsletter, you have to provide me with your email address when filling out the newsletter online form. This is a voluntary decision, but essential in order to sign up for the newsletter.

Data provided to us when signing up for the newsletter is used to send you the newsletter, with your express consent (art. 6 clause 1 let. a RODO) given when signing up to the newsletter.

Your data will be handled while the newsletter is being produced, unless you decide to remove your name from the mailing list, thereby removing your data from the database.

You can amend your data details at any time, as well as requesting to have them deleted, should you choose to remove yourself from the newsletter mailing list. This involves data transfer processes covered by art. 20 RODO.

Email contact. By contacting me using electronic email, including questions asked via our online forms, you automatically provide me with your email address as the person sending the message. In addition, you can include other personal data in the message. Providing this data is voluntary, but essential in making contact.

Your data is then used to make contact with you, based on art. 6 clause 1 let. a RODO, your permission arising from you making contact with me. The legal basis for data processing once the contact is concluded is justified for the purpose of archiving correspondence for reasons of internal business (art. 6 clause 1 let. c RODO).

Our correspondence can be archived and we are not able to now indicate how long this might be stored for. You have the right to request copies of previous correspondence (if it has been archived), as well as to request it be deleted, unless data storage is justified due to overriding interests, such as potential litigation processes.

Comments. The blog connected to our page can be commented upon. If you wish to add a comment, you have to fill out the relevant form, providing your email address, signature and facultatively a website address. The data you provide will be used to process comments. Your comments along with a defined signature will be shown on our website. The legal framework for handling your personal data is in this case art. 6 clause 1 let. a RODO, your consent being the fact that you are commenting on a post.

Your data will be processed as long as the comments system is in operation. At any time, you can insist your comments be removed, which will result in these being removed from our database.

Personal cookies.  We use personal cookies in order to ensure optimum functioning of our website.

Third party cookies. Like most modern websites, our webpage uses functions which are provided by third parties, involving the use of cookie files handled by third parties. The use of these sorts of files has been described below.

Google Analytics automatically gathers data about the way you use our website. Information gathered in this way is most often stored in a Google server based in the USA. Due to my use of an anonymous IP address, your IP address is shortened before it is passed on. It is only in rare cases that the full IP address is forwarded to a Google server in the USA and only there shortened. The anonymized IP address sent by your browser as part of Google Analytics is generally not linked to other Google data.

Considering the fact that Google LLC is based in the USA and uses technical infrastructure based there, it has joined the EU-US-Privacy Shield Program in order to ensure personal data security, as required by European legislation. In terms of the agreements between the USA and the European Commission, the latter has settled upon a required level of protection for personal data relating to companies issued with the EU-US-Privacy Shield certificate.

You can stop data being held by cookie files related to your use of our website through Google, as well as the the processing of this data by Google, by installing the following plugin: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

If you are interested in the detailed processes of how your data is handled by Google Analytics, do visit the following link: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.

Facebook Pixel. I use marketing tools available as part of the Facebook service, offered by  Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave. Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. We use these to provide targeted ads on Facebook, as is my legal right in terms of marketing our services and products.

In order to provide you with personalized ads on our website, we utilize Pixel Facebook, which automatically gathers information about how you use our online services and view our website. Information thus gathered is most often sent to the Facebook servers in the USA and kept there.

Data collected via Pixel Facebook is anonymized, and does not allow us to identify individuals. We only know the activity users perform on our website. It is worth knowing that Facebook can link this info with other data about you collected in terms of your use of Facebook itself and use these for Facebook’s own marketing purposes. This is beyond our control, though you can learn more by visiting: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation. You can also control your own personal settings via your Facebook profile and account.

Considering Facebook is based in the USA and uses technical infrastructure based there, it has joined the EU-US-Privacy Shield Program in order to ensure personal data security, as required by European legislation. In terms of the agreements between the USA and the European Commission, the latter has settled upon a required level of protection for personal data relating to companies issued with the EU-US-Privacy Shield certificate.

You can adjust your own cookie settings to decide if you agree to me using Pixel Facebook in your regards or not.
